A few questions about sewing..?

The first question, how do you sew zips using a sewing machine? (I'd like detailed instructions not just copying and pasting from a website or a link)
Second question, when you sew a zip do you need a different presser foot? I had a bag that came with sewing stuff and I think there was another presser foot in it but he bag disappeared :(
Third question, when you sew zips what stitch do you use?

It's much easier with a zipper foot. My machine also has the ability to move the needle left or right, so the needle is snug up against the zipper teeth. What I was told: tack the seam, lay the zip underneath it, sew down one side, being careful not to catch the little tag bit (I find it easier to unpick the tacking slightly and ease the tag down, sew that bit and then ease it up again. Down to the bottom, turn and make a couple of stitches and then up the other side, easing the tag opener bit in the same way again.
