How to make a polyester blanket thicker?
Hi, I ordered a blanket for my fiance for christmas, and it is 100% polyester and extremely thin. I was expecting it to be a little thicker, so are there any ways I can make it thicker? I don't want to do the tie blanket idea because my fiance is 6'4'' and the blanket is only 40x60 so making it smaller isn't an option (granted, its only a "couch blanket"). Is there a way to sew a piece of thick fleece to the back of it securely? Serious answers only please, and tell me if there are risks of the fabrics tearing with your ideas! Thank you so much!
I guess you cannot return it and get something else? Yes you could use a fleece. You have to be careful sewing the two fabrics together.
For me I will prefer to purchase a few yards of quilt fabric and use the blanket as the lining for the quilt fabric. You could check out the fabric stores where they sell quilts for making comforters and blankets. Just get a nice color to blend with your blanket.
You could also purchase a few yards of upholstery fabric if you choose to make it a little more fancy. Upholstery fabric makes cool looking throw blankets. You just have to take the measurement of the blanket and purchase a little more fabric so you could have seam allowance when sewed together at each edge.
If you cannot find anything at the stores, you should check eBay for reasonable prices on the quilted fabrics.
