Sewing on new buttons on a sweater..?
I would like to have buttons sewed onto a chunky handmade sweater on the collar to keep it down. I don't want to put holes in it, and i was thinking of asking them to make a loop catch instead of making a hole. Is this possible, and if it exists, what is it called?
Yes, it's called a button-loop closure or a frog closure. You can use anything from thread to leather to fabric to hemp to ribbon or elastic, or even tiny beads.
