How do I stitch jersey fabric using my sewing machine?
Hi everyone,
I'm a novice sewer & everytime I try to sew with jersey fabric it always skips stitches and doesn't sew normally. I have already changed the needle on my machine. I tried needles especially for jersey, number 80/11. They also say 130R/705 on the pack but I have no idea what this means.
I have also experimented with the tension on my machine and not pulling onto the fabric when sewing and my machine is always threaded correctly but yet, no avail. I also have a very basic sewing machine (if that might have anything to do with my problems?) Its the John Lewis mini sewing machine.
There must be a simple soloution and an easy way to successfully sew jersey fabric together! If there is anyone who can shed some light and help, that would be hugely appreciated!

I also agree with the ball tipped needle, also a number 9 needle is finer and will give you better results. If you are sewing using the straight stitch, then you need to gently pull the fabric as you stitch. If you use a zigzag stitch it would make some difference in the stretchability of the sewn seam without the stitches popping.
There are definitely tricks to sewing stretch fabrics.
