A Handmade Doll Accessory for your Girls Dolls
Does your American Girl Doll need a Bag for the Gym? It may be built to almost any sizing you want and from a variety of materials. We've included some video lessons to exhibit a few of the styles that you could produce alone. You don't need to always be handy - it's this straightforward. Make a great adorable bag out of denim, lace, cardboard boxes, you may even use a tic-tac box or Juicie. Start using your creativity in order to imagine how you need it to look and you will become surprised about how you can create a handbag to complement all your American Girls Doll Clothing.
All of these steps may not be necessary for every purse. Most of these steps outlined are for a sewn or glued fabric bag accessory. See the videos for further ideas on the way to design a purse for Dolls from American Girl.
Steps in making a Doll Purse.
Cut four pieces of material from cloth fabric:
One 3 1/4" x 2 1/4" (8.25cm x 5.7cm) rectangular shape (flap liner)
One 3 1/4" x 2" (8.25cm x 5cm) rectangular shape (front)
One 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" (8.25cm x 11.4cm) rectangle (for the back with flap)
One 15" x 1 3/4" (38cm x 4.4cm) rectangular shape (strap)
Additionally you can cut an additional section for the trim at 3 1/4" (8.25cm) inches.
Next, put 1 long edge of the flap lining 1/4" (6mm) to the wrong side and stitch. Repeat this step using the front section.
Use the ruler to sketch a line 3/4" (19mm) from the the short edge of the back of the flap. Center the section of trim above the line and sew in place. This step is optional.
Sew the flap lining, with all the right sections together all the way to the top of the back flap where sides that aren't stitched and top edges. Make sure that you connect the flap lining to the side on the back with flap with the trim. Sew the front to the bottom of the rear flap the identical way.
Cross sew through the layers along long sides the back the flap. Trim the seam to across the cross. This can help prevent a lot of fraying. Cutoff the corners close to stitching, turn to the right and press.
Press the longer sides of the handles 1/4" (6mm) to the wrong side. Duplicate so the folded edges meet in the center. Press again so the out side pressed edges connect with one anotehr. Stitch.
Put the ends of the handle 1/2" (12.7mm) within the inside of the top of the front and stitch into place.
Flip the flap down and press. Your done - enjoy the handmade doll accessory!
More Tips
Try out making use of various sizes of lace or pipe cleaners for the straps.
Make use of the flat side of the scissors to push and smooth out the corners.
Use Hot Glue or Glue Sticks rather than sewing thread.
Using several sizes of fabrics or items which support the fabric which add to several types of designer bags, just like a life like bag.
Typical Items Used:
About 1 foot of medium weighted woven fabric
Coordinating twine
Bows
Sewing machine (alternatively; needle and thread; glue stick, hot glue gun)
Ruler
Scisser
Pencil or fabric marker
Fabric Tape
Cardboard Paper
For protection, be aware when working with scissors, needles, hot glue and sewing devices - follow warning lables.
This is the simple easy method for creating a lovely and extraordinary girl doll accessory which you can use for several purposes. When your all done you and the Girl Doll will be geared up with a hand made back pack that is fashionable.
