Advice on sewing machines and sewing.?
I don't have much experience sewing by hand but I want to start sewing basic projects on the sewing machine. I want to make doll dresses and eventually move up to making my own clothing. Please help.
Don't by pass learning how to sew by hand! It is essential in understand how to sew, especially when using the machine. At some point in your sewing life you'll have to use hand stitching.
Start out looking at a kit I use to instruct my students on understanding the sewing process. The kit can be viewed at:

Learn the basics, then progress on to using a machine. You just have to an understanding of the sewing process to be successful.
