Silk Flowers - 3 Fun Projects
Silk flowers are a pretty alternative to real flowers but did you know that you can use silk flowers in other fun ways? Try spicing up your kid's clothes or making accessories using artificial flowers. Create colorful stationary that your friends will go crazy over and create unique silk centerpieces and watch guests fight over who gets to take them home. All it takes to do these projects is a little time, creativity and silk flowers.
I have a customer in Hawaii who makes a killing selling leis made from silk orchids to tourists. While Hawaiian leis may not be popular in your neighborhood think about other articles of clothing you could spruce up like sandals and head bands. If you have small children, cover the rips and holes in their jeans by sewing or hot gluing silk flower heads over them. Sell these items online for extra spending cash or give them as gifts to friends and family.
Have some free time or looking for crafts to keep your kids busy on the weekend? Creating fun stationary with silk flowers and paints is easy and also makes great gifts. While walking down the stationary aisle of a popular store I targeted the normal pens, notebooks, paperclip holders, pencil holders (which are just cups) and other supplies. Then there was the super fashionable happy bright stationary. Most of this stationary was the normal stationary just painted up and had little silk flowers glued on them--hint, hint.
I classify events as formal or casual based on one factor: whether or not the tables have center pieces. Center pieces are easy to make and can be as simple as a glass bowl half filled with water with the head of a stargazer (the flower not a person who likes to daydream) floating in it. When creating a silk center piece be as elaborate or as simple as you like because there is no right or wrong way, just your way.
So wrapping this up nice and tight I want you to remember that silk flowers can be and are used for more than just looking pretty.
