What accessories can you get for a Brother table top sewing machine.?
My sister is getting one for her birthday, and I know nothing about sewing, but i wanted to get her some accessories to go with it.
Her primary use will be fixing clothing for her family, basically small projects.
Any help for sewers would be greatly appreciated.

Rather than get machine accessories like presser feet, you might consider starting a sewing tools box for her. Some ideas:
-- seam ripper (my favorite is the white handled Clover ripper, about $3.50)
-- tape measure (I prefer a "quilters tape measure", fiberglas, 120")
-- fabric marking device -- I only use chalk or tailor tacks; of chalk, I like the traditional white tailor's chalk or a chakoner, which makes a much finer line
-- a good ruler or three -- my favorites are a 2x18" C-thru ruler that has a 1/8" grid on it, and a 6x18" plexiglas "quilt ruler"
-- iron and ironing board. My pick for the bargain irons is the Black and Decker Classic, about $25.
-- sleeveboard -- this is like a miniature ironing board that can slip into narrow spots like sleeves and pantlegs. http://www.sew4less.com/SleeveBoard.php If you happen to be handy with woodworking, you can make your own out of a couple of 1x6s and a piece of 2x4.
-- a clapper/point press . Also can be homemade at a bargain cost.
-- a good pair of scissors -- Fiskars is my bargain brand choice, Kai for good. Longest blades you can find, in a "bent trimmer" configuration.
-- hand sewing needles -- I use embroidery needles because of the big eye.
-- pins -- I like the big "quilting pins" with a yellow plastic head. They're so big they'll mark silk and some other fine fabrics, but they're great for everything else.
-- a bodkin -- that's a little metal or plastic thingie that you use for pulling elastic or ribbon through a casing. Nicest ones tend to look like the first two here: http://sewing.about.com/od/beginner1/ig/Sewing-Tools/bodkin.htm
Big safety pins can be substituted, but bodkins are easier.
-- a roll of "Collins Wash-a-way Wonder Tape" -- this is 1/4" wide double stick tape with a paper liner. You can use it to stick two pieces of fabric together for stitching, and then sew right through it. It dissolves in the wash. Very handy to have when you put in your first zipper.
