Tips for living in a tiny house?
My husband and I are considering buying a 900 sq ft house. It has 2 bdrms, 1 bath, a tiny little kitchen, and all the utilities (washer&dryer, hot water tank) are just shoved into corners of rooms.
I like the house for the location - across the street is the river, and it backs onto a forested park. The yard is decent-sized and fenced in, and there are mature trees along the side.
Anyway, this will be a temporary solution for us. We have a bun on the way, and we just need somewhere to live for a few years while we build.
I would love to be able to have a space to sew/write/do crafts, and my husband would love a space to do his music. Only the house is so small, that we'd either have to double-function the second bedroom or else fill our livingroom with our hobbies.
What else can be done? How do people living in tiny houses have hobbies? Any ideas for smart storage tips or how to double-function different parts of the house?
Thanks!
Don't be a pack-rat!!! When you go through your stuff, ask yourself it you've used it in the last 4 months? No? Chuck it... Or build a shed or two... Also, look into vacuum packs for storing of winter clothes (in summer of course and vice-versa)
We live in a tiny little 200yr old stone cottage in the foot hills of the Dublin mountains (Ireland) and although we "share" the place with our four cats and dog we still have room to breath (and move!) with the use of two sheds and a lot of shelving...
We love it here and wouldn't want a bigger place... Good things come in small packages!!!
All the best... Moon Man (aka Neil)
