Where could I find a replacement part for Kenmore sewing machine model 385?
I'm looking for the part that you place on the spool pin after you put on the spool of thread. It holds the spool in place while you're sewing so that it doesn't come off. We misplaced it and have looked on Sears.com for a replacement. They don't list what it's called in the manual of the sewing machine so that made finding a replacement rather difficult. So if anyone could answer even that much for me that would be great. Thank you!
If what you're calling "model 385" is actually a number like 385.1234567 -- the model number is actually the 4 digits after the decimal point, and the 385 part tells you it was made for Sears by Janome.
You might try again at http://www.searspartsdirect.com or you can try calling any Janome dealer and asking if they've got something that will fit your spool pin.
If worse comes to worst, I've used a circle of yoghurt cup lid plastic with a hole poked in the middle for a temporary replacement on a Viking.
