Bobbin Tension - How Do You Adjust Bobbin Tension on your Sewing Machine?
I'm interested in learning all about sewing machines, beginning with the bobbin.
Bobbin tension depends on the kind of fabric you're sewing. You can adjust the upper thread tension, though it's not always required.
Most sewing machines have numbers on them (0-9) with the factory settings at 4. Unless you're stitching something different, you don't need to change this.
The basic rule is to adjust the top tension when you face problems with the bottom thread, and to adjust the bobbin tension when you have problems with your top stitch.
If you find your fabric wadding up, release the tension just slightly. You can also use threads of 2 different colors to pinpoint tension problems.
