Why is my sewing machine serger foot pedal making a strange noise?
Why is my sewing machine Serger foot pedal making a strange noise when I sew?
Last week my serger started dragging and didn't want to run so I disconnected the foot pedal wires and was going to replace the pedal.However I didn't have a spare pedal so I reconnected the same pedal as it looked ok,no frayed wires,etc.
I then took the bottom of the serger loose and cleaned out all the dust and lint and oiled everything that moved,put it all back together and plugged it in and it ran just fine.
This morning I rethreaded it and grabbed a scrap to see how it would run, did fine for a few minutes then all of a sudden I hear this funny noise coming from the pedal,kind of a scratching sound.So I quickly unplugged the machine.
What's going on? What is causing this noise?
Thanks for all who can help before I get fried trying to fix this thing!
Can't tell from your description exactly what's going on, because there are several types of pedals around. You could have a critter in the pedal, or an electrical short, or a bad connection making sparks. Me, I'd probably replace the pedal and take this one apart just to find out what's going on.
