brother india sewing machine

I am looking to buy a sewing machine. Could someone guide me as to which brand will give me its moneys worth?
I am a beginner and looking ahead to sew as a hobby, some baby clothes and also do some repairs around the house. I am thinking of buying a 'brother' brand .
also, it wud help if the service centres were available in India too
First, find out WHAT machines are serviced in India.
With that information, determine for yourself and your lifestyle exactly how much sewing you will be doing, and what type.
For light sewing, as you described -- Janome, Brother, Bernette, Singer, Pfaff all have models that are inexpesive, very sturdy and easy to use.
For heavier sewing, add Bernina to the mix. Preferably a machine made with all metal parts, for less repair bills.
Remember to have your machine cleaned annually, change your needle every 8 hours of sewing and as a general rule, clean your machine when you change projects.
I personally have a Bernette 90 for my light weight sewing and transport to quilt classes and camps.
For my serious quilting I have a Bernina Activa 145. Between these 2 plus my serger I can accomplish any project in a timely manner.
Cost is not necessarily your best guage since you are looking for service in India. Again find out what machines they service, then go to a shop, try out the various machines in your price range -- PICK ONE YOU WILL BE COMFORTABLE WITH USING
