Beautify Your Room With Striking Window Curtains

Beautiful and admiring window curtains play a major role in enhancing the feel of your room. Dressing windows with simple, but elegant window curtains are comparatively cheap, and are best for blocking the sunlight. The material chosen for window curtains must depend upon the color of your walls and upholstery of your furnishings. You will find numerous styles of window curtains to choose from. If you are looking for a breezy feel, you must choose window curtains that are light in weight. Curtain materials that are heavy and dark will provide a warm feeling, and will make you feel comfortable during winter. Some window curtains, that are half translucent, are generally not formal, and provide an airy ambience. Window curtains are one of those warm touches that augment the glow of your room, hence choosing the appropriate window curtain is indeed vital for all.

Window Curtain Material

Windows are essential part of your home; they make your room comfortable and airy. Hence, the actual materials used in window curtains are noticeably important. You can select from different varieties of cloth from cotton to more elegant options such as lace, satin and silk. Before choosing window curtains, you must decide whether to have light material which will allow sunlight filter through, or a thick material that will block out the sunlight. If you wish to have window curtains made of silk, ensure to interline it with flannel, and line it with cotton. Otherwise, the silk material will become pale due to the effect of sunlight, and you will have to change your window curtains often. Long curtains are spectacular to look at, but the additional length of the curtain will pick up dirt, and you will need to clean them regularly. Hence, while sewing window curtains, ensure that they are not excessively long and are kept few inches up from the ground.

Importance of Choosing Right Window Curtains

Finding wonderful window curtains to cover your windows is quite easy than you think. Affordable and cheap window curtains for your windows are available in several print fabrics, solid colors, and in huge selection of material. Some people prefer earth-colored window curtains, whereas, others prefer to have bright colors on their curtains. Apart from solid colors, floral print window curtains enjoy huge popularity as well. You can also mix and match different types of colors and materials to give the window curtains of your home a unique appeal. Window curtains are beautiful part of your home. Hence, make sure that you find just the perfect window curtains to offer your home proper atmosphere of comfort and warmth.

Can I sew a simple long skirt without a pattern?

Ok, so I'm going to admit it - I am fat (3XL). Abit on the goth/medieval/gypsy side of fashion. I want some long skirts and I dont want to pay $80 for each skirt. I like the crushed velvet look and in dark colours.

how hard is it to make a boring skirt - with NO shaping, just really long with an elastic waist? Is it as simple as just buying some material cutting an ample amount , hemming the bottom, sewing up a section at top for the wide elastic to sit in and thread the elastic through, then sewing it all together? Or do I need to go looking for a pattern? I've never used a pattern before and I have only really ever made curtains and quilt covers before. Do you think I could get away with it?

please help!

well that should be fairly simple to do, especially if you've done curtains and quilt covers... i cut up and re-sew a bunch of my clothes and its pretty easy...ive never made a skirt, but i dont think you would need a pattern... i would think all you would need to do is cut out a simple rectangle shape and sew the two sides together, maybe im wrong, but thats what i would do??? sounds pretty easy to me. :)
............................
(but after you cut the fabric out, before you sew the skirt together, i would just pin the elastic down where you want it, and then just fold the fabric over the elastic, and sew...i think that would be easier than having to thread the elastic through)
