
How To Immediately Stop Snoring
Snoring is not only bothersome to your partner or other roommates, but also has a negative impact on your health. The reason that you snore is because your airway is restricted so you are not getting as much oxygen flow as normal. This can cause your sleep to not be as sound and as refreshing as it can be. Your body has to work extra hard to get a breath of air and so it becomes tiring and you may wake up feeling more tired than when you went to bed. You know that is not how sleeping is supposed to be.
There are some things that may help. It will vary person to person, so you may have to try each to see how it works for you.
Exercise
If you are a bit overweight, then exercising a little bit more will help to decrease the weight that is put on your muscles when you are lying down. All it takes is 20 minutes a day of activity. It could be a simple stroll around the neighborhood or a bike ride. If you have a dog, taking the dog for a walk will bring benefits to both of you. This also relieves stress which could cause the tightening of muscles.
Sleep On Your Side
For some this helps to open up the airways. You can put a little pillow in between your knees to keep your back in alignment.
Tennis Ball
You can try sewing a tennis ball to the back of your pajamas. This way, it will prevent you from sleeping with your face up. With the face to the side, it decreases the pressure that is put on the tracheal muscles.
Sing
If you like to do karaoke, do more of it. Singing actually increases the strength of your vocal cords as well as all the muscles related to breathing. Professional singers do special exercises just to work on those muscles. If you know a singer, you may want to talk to them about what they do to warm up. You can do the same so that you can strengthen those muscles that will help to keep your airway open at night.
Special Pillows
There are special pillows made to support and keep your airways open. This is helpful if you sleep on your side as they have the neck support that is so vital.
Nose Strips
These work well to open up the nasal passages to maintain constant airflow to your lungs.
You will know if what you try is working if you wake up feeling more refreshed than you have been feeling.
