How should I reinforce the seams on a patchwork purse I'm sewing?

I'm making a large patchwork purse out of calico squares. I'm going to be sewing the squares together on my sewing machine. I'm afraid that when the purse is complete and I use it, the weight of the items in the purse will split the seams. I'm using a lining in the purse. I figured I'd make the lining slightly smaller so the lining holds most of the weight. But, I still want to make sure the seams between the squares are reinforced well. What's the best method to do this?

Once you've completed piecing, iron fusible fleece to the backside. This will give your purse more body and stabilize all your seams. There are different weights and stiffnesses available--choose the one that gives the purse the kind of body you want. You can also stitch in the ditch from the right side through all layers if you want to give your squares more definition. Then go ahead and line as usual. I've started doing this to all my purses that I make and they last longer and look much more professional.
