sewing machine problems.?
i have a brother sewing machine. its about 10 years old and it's only been used a few times by my mother in those 10 years. ive been trying to use it to make clothes recently, but it just wont work correctly. i oiled all of the parts that needed it, its threaded properly, and everything else seems to be working. it works fine when i push the pedal down and im not trying to actually sew, but when i put fabric down and push the pedal down, the needle will go up and down a few times but then it will just stop working... i dont know if its something im doing or somethings wrong with the machine...?? i can hear the machine trying to work still, but the needle just wont move..??
again, it works perfectly fine when i just press the pedal down without trying to sew on material, but not when im actually sewing..??
Try this, take the needle out and try running the machine without a needle in it. If it works okay for a few minutes, your needle was bent and must be replaced. If it still stops, the counterweight may be hitting the case, and need a shop to realign it.
