What materials whould I use?
What kind of fabrics should I use?
What kind of lace should I use?
How do I connect the lace to the dress?
How do I go about on finding or making such beaded lace?
Where can I find my materials?
About how long will it take?
Can I use a sewing machine?
Will I have to sew by hand?

Go to a yardage shop. You need to do a little research so bring a pen and tablet with you.

1. Look through the pattern books on on the rack for an easy-to-make dress.
2. Don't buy anything yet.
3. Read the back of the envelope for suggested fabrics and the width and necessary yardage for the size you need.
4. Look for the fabric: Price it.
5. Look for anything else that might be appropriate for decoration: Price it.
5. Ask someone else to look at the pattern to verify if it's easy.
6. Take the sheet of instructions out of the envelope and study it to see if you have the skills and the equipment to handle it.
7. If you don't, ask a dressmaker how much she would charge to sew it up for you if you buy the materials. Ask her how soon she could have it finished if she did make it for you.

If you are purchasing fabric, make sure you have the pattern so the clerk can verify that you are buying the right length of materials for what you need to do. If you are having a dressmaker sew it up for you, consult that person, too.
