How do i determine the age of my old metal singer sewing machine?
I purchased an old table contained singer sewing machine (NON TREDLE, BUT ELECTRIC). I purchased some singer oil from a local fabric store and it sews like a dream. I'm wanting to know how to determine the age of the machine. It is in exquisite condition and i want to use it but i need to know it's age to purchase bobbins and motor lubricant for it. Can anyone offer me any insight?
You don't need the age to buy bobbins or lubricant. You will need the model number if you don't know the bobbin size.

As far as lubrication goes, you want sewing machine oil. Not 3-in-1 type oils (they gum up and freeze the machine) nor WD-40 type stuff (it's a solvent, not a lubricant, and when it evaporates, it will freeze the machine). Stop at any fabric store or sewing machine shop and you can buy a bottle of sewing machine oil. Apply sparingly, and only to the designated oiling points.
