Would you pay more for hand stitched home decor items?
I am looking in to starting a small home business. Its hobby business, selling items I have made at home, with a needle and thread. Items include curtains, drapes, dining sets (table cloths, napkins, runners) vera bradley style purses etc. Do consumers like a product that is hand stitchd versus an item that is mass produced(i.e. something from walmart) or even items that are machine sewed... I am thinking that ppl would like things that are made by hand more than what they can buy at jc pennys. I have been sewing and embroidering since the age of 6 (23 now) and can sew a perfectly straight line and embroider beautifully.
Would I have a good market in the flea market/farmers market raange? Or ebay? As of right now, im planning on usingword of mouth, trying to find a retailer to carry my products etc
Not likely unless there is something that makes your product superior. I do not believe hand stitched will do it..
